Biography
Marius Makrionitis was born on October 8, 1913 in Greece. Joined the monastic order of the Jesuits. After receiving a theological education, he was ordained a priest on July 15, 1941 .
On March 11, 1953, Pope Pius XII appointed Marius Macrionitis to be Athenian Archbishop. On May 10, 1953, Marius Makrionitis was ordained bishop by Bishop George Xenopoulos , accompanied by the Archbishop of Naxos, Andros, Tinos and Mikonos Ioannis Filippussis and Exarch of Greece George Kalavassi .
