Loova

Loova ( lat. Lovoa ) is a genus of trees of the Meliyev family . Species of this genus grow in the equatorial and subequatorial zones of Africa in the following countries: Gabon , Ghana , Democratic Republic of Congo , Cameroon , Cote d'Ivoire , Liberia , Nigeria , Sierra Leone , Equatorial Guinea . The species Lovoa trichilioides is listed in the Red Book [2] as vulnerable.

The log has a diameter of 60 to 120 centimeters, the thickness of sapwood is 3-7 centimeters (clearly expressed), the texture is fine. The wood color is brown, yellow-brown or gray-brown with black stripes or veins with a golden sheen, with black deposits in the pores.

Mechanical characteristics: Crush resistance: 47 MPa. Static bending strength: 72 MPa. Elastic modulus: ~ 10000 MPa.

Resistance to fungi: class 3-4 - from moderate to low resistance; borers: persistent, risk limited to sapwood; termites: class S - susceptible; permeability: 3-4 - weak or impenetrable; class of use: 2 - indoors or under cover (dimming is possible).

Requirement for protective treatment: Against wood borers - does not require protective treatment; against the risk of temporary wetting - requires the necessary protective treatment; against the risk of constant moisture - not recommended for use.
