Ivan Yuryevich Golitsyn (or Bulgakov-Golitsyn ) (d. 1582 [1] or 1583 [2] [3] ) - prince, boyar (since 1574) and governor during the reign of Ivan the Terrible .

Biography

In 1560 - the governor in Tula .

In 1564 - the 1st governor in Dedilovo .

In 1565 - the 1st sortie voivode in Ryazan .

In 1566 - again governor in Tula.

In 1568 - commanded a regiment in Toropets after the departure of the tsarist troops from Novgorod to Moscow.

In 1570-1571 - governor in Tula.

In 1574 - the boyar; in October he commanded a large regiment on a campaign to Murom .

In 1575 - commanded a large regiment in Serpukhov in case of a Tatar raid .

In 1577 - commanded regiments in Kolyvan and Kaluga .

Despite the limitations of his military abilities, he was commander in chief in the Livonian War with Batory [2] ;

In 1578 and 1579, he went with a large regiment to Livonia, where the Russians were defeated near Venden , and Golitsyn fled from the battlefield; but instead of punishment in 1579, the king again sent him to command the army - the result of this was the loss of Polotsk and the siege of Pskov [2] .

In 1580, he was left in Novgorod by the 2nd governor, later - the 2nd governor in Pskov.

In 1581 - the 1st governor in Novgorod.
