David Nairashvili ( Georgian. დავით ნაირაშვილი ; October 24, 1964 ) - Georgian Brigadier General (2008) and deputy chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Georgia since September 2008 [1] .

Nairashvili graduated from the Mozhaisky Military Engineering and Space Institute in 1986 and served in Soviet space forces until 1989. Since 1992, he held various positions in the National Guard of Georgia and the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, including the Deputy Commander of the Georgian Air Force (1993–1994), Deputy Chief of the General Staff (1999–2000, 2004–2005). From 2000 to 2004, he served as the first representative of Georgia at the headquarters of the Supreme Commander of the joint armed forces in Europe in Belgium [2] .
From March 2007 to September 2008, Nairashvili commanded the Georgian Air Force, which in August 2008 participated in the armed conflict in South Ossetia [3] . In April 2009, he was awarded the highest military award of Georgia - St. George the Victorious - for his behavior during the war [4] .
