Arayarvi, Pentti

Pentti Ilkka Olavi Arajärvi ( Fin. Pentti Ilkka Olavi Arajärvi ; June 2, 1948 , Helsinki , Finland ) is a Finnish professor, doctor of law and husband of ex-President of Finland Tarja Halonen . Arayarvi and Halonen were married in 2000, when the latter already served as president of Finland .

Biography

He was born on June 2, 1948 in Helsinki, in the family of the famous child psychologist (1922-2014) [1] and her husband, master of law Tauno Arayarvi. Pentti Arayarvi worked at the Ministry of Education of Finland (1972-1984), and since the mid-1980s, he served in Parliament as secretary and adviser to the committee on social and economic issues. Arayarvi was in this position until 2002, when he defended his doctoral dissertation in jurisprudence, which allowed him to become an assistant professor of social law at the University of Helsinki . In 2003-2006 He worked part-time at the University of Joensuu as a professor of social law and educational law. In 2006-2011. He held a similar position at the University of Eastern Finland . In 2012, Arayarvi became a professor of social law at the University of Helsinki. He is a consultant on common social policy issues.

Arayarvi is the author of several scientific books.

In October 2005, Arayarvi was elected Chairman of the Basketball Union of Finland. Pentti's hobby for basketball began back in school. In November 2007, he was removed from this post due to the poor financial situation of the organization. Arayarvi often took part in the Yukola relay race, the last time this happened in 2006. Pentti Arayarvi is also on the board of the organization, which is responsible for the prestigious Ressut Helsinki School. The graduate of this school is Arayarvi himself.

In March 2012, Arayarvi expressed his desire to participate in the municipal elections in Helsinki of the same year [2] .
