History
Initially, the street was called Pervaja Meshchanskaya Street . Presumably, the name was given by the village authorities who transferred the names of the streets of the capital to the village of Bogorodskoye (the 2nd Meshchanskaya street is the name of Gilyarovsky street until March 25, 1966 [4] [5] ). It is also possible that immigrants from the cities of the western regions of the Russian empire ( Ukraine , Belarus , Poland ) migrated here in time, who could bring their naming of the townspeople - “ bourgeois ” (in a number of Slavic languages, including Ukrainian , Belarusian , Polish , “City” is expressed by the words “place”, “myosto”, “misto” ; therefore, “burgher”, “local” means “living in a city”, “citizen”). The street received its modern name on June 7, 1922 as a sign of the opposition of “ civilian ” interests to “ petty bourgeois ” (in the meaning of these words by the then ideologues; however, the word “citizen” was also used to mean “living in a city”, “city dweller” ) [2] [6] [3] .
Location
2nd Grazhdanskaya Street, being a continuation of Kuznetsovskaya Street , runs from 3rd Civil Street to the south, turns to the south-east and goes up to 1st Civil Street .
Earlier, 2nd Grazhdanskaya Street ran from 1st Grazhdanskaya Street, it was almost completely built up in the late 1970s ; the area between 1st Grazhdanskaya Street and Kuznetsovskaya Street was also called Officer, Grazhdansky, Krasnoarmeysky Lane [7] [8] [9] .
