Al-Tall [1] ( Arabic التل ) is a city in the south-west of Syria , located in the territory of the Damascus governorate. The administrative center of the homonymous district.

Geographical position
The city is located in the northern part of the governorate, in the mountainous terrain of Anti-Lebanon , at an altitude of 913 meters above sea level [2] .
El Tall is located approximately 7 kilometers north of Damascus , the provincial capital and capital of the country. The nearest airport is in Damascus [2] .
Demographics
According to the last official census of 1981 , the population was 18,198 people [3] .

Civil War
The city was returned to government control in early December 2016 [6] . According to the Russian Center for Reconciliation, the opposition voluntarily left the city, laying down their arms. It is reported that more than 200 small arms, ammunition and heavy equipment were left [6] . The liberation of the city was due to the military successes of the Syrian army in the city of Aleppo .
