Biography
He received his first mastering lessons in Bruges under the direction of Matthias de Vischa . In 1762 he left for France and became a student of Jean-Jacques Bachelier.
In 1771 he was awarded the Rome Prize , thanks to which he got the opportunity to go to Rome and live there due to the prize patron. From 1772 to 1778, as a pensioner of the French Academy, he lived in Rome.
After returning to Paris, he was appointed academician. He opened an art school for young women in the Louvre .
One of his students was Constance Mayer . Also one of his students was Joseph-Denis Odewar .
In 1801, he became director of the French Academy in Rome .
In 1807, Sueve suddenly died in Rome.
Suve's paintings are kept in the Louvre, the Palace of Fine Arts in Lille, the Museum of Fine Arts in Nantes , etc.
