Biography
Born in 1842. [1] Participated in the ranks of the northern army in the secession war . In 1870, he entered the Egyptian army as a lieutenant colonel of the General Staff. Member of the expedition of Gordon in 1874, he was sent last to King Mteza in Uganda , reached Ukereva and returned to Gondokoro . [1] He discovered along the way Lake Long (or Ibrahim Pasha) between the exit of the Nile from Ukereve and Magungo. After spending a short time in Khartoum , Long visited the area of Vari in 1875 and reached the lands of Makrak-Nyam-Nom.
