Each year, the association awards the Turing Award and the Grace Murray Hopper Award . Awards also include the Gödel Award, the Dijkstra Award, the Knut Award, the Gordon Bell Award and the Paris Canellakis Award .

Activity
ACM consists of more than 170 regional offices and 35 special subject groups ( eng. Special interest group , SIG ), within which the main activities are carried out. Some subject groups:
- SIGACT - theory of algorithms and calculations ;
- - artificial intelligence ;
- - human-machine interaction ;
- - data transfer ;
- SIGGRAPH - computer graphics ;
- - data mining ;
- - multimedia ;
- SIGMOD - data management ;
- SIGOPS - operating systems ;
- - programming languages ;
- - software development ;
- - web technologies .
In addition, there are more than 500 university departments. The first student branch of the organization was created in 1961 at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette .
Thematic groups organize regular conferences, symposia, seminars, publish specialized journals, many of which have high scientometric ratings [2] [3] [4] .
ACM also funds computer science events, for example:

Services
ACM Press publishes the prestigious journal of the Journal of the ACM ( JACM ) and general magazines for computer professionals Communications of the ACM (also known as Communications or CACM ) and Queue . Other ACM publications include:
- ACM Crossroads , a popular student computer magazine in the United States .
- A number of journals specific to the sub-branches of computer science, called ACM Transactions . The most famous of them are:
- ACM Transactions on Computer Systems (TOCS)
- ACM Transactions on Database Systems (TODS)
- ACM Transactions on Graphics (TOG)
- ACM Transactions on Programming Languages and Systems (TOPLAS)
Although Communications no longer publishes the results of primary research, many major debates and results in the history of computer science were published on its pages.
Digital Library
ACM Digital Library ( ACM Digital Library ) - an archive of magazines, newspapers and conference organization materials. Online services include forums such as Ubiquity and Tech News digest .
ACM requires you to specify when publishing the copyright of all materials transferred to the organization. Authors may post their documents on their own sites, but they must provide a link to the appropriate page from the ACM library. Despite the fact that authors are not allowed to receive funds for access to their works, downloading materials from the ACM website requires a paid subscription.

The president of ACM is elected biennially; in July 2016, Vicki Lynn Hanson was elected to this post.
The ACM is governed by a board consisting of the president, vice president, treasurer, ex-president, chairman of the government administration SIG ( Eng. SIG Governing Board ), head of the press center ( eng. Publications Board ), three representatives of the government administration SIG and seven elected members .
