At the USSR Championships he won a gold medal in the individual championship (1967).
At the 1970 World Cup, he was one of the coaches that led the USSR national team to victory in the team championship.
Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the USSR Armed Forces. In the period from 1975 to 1985, he held senior positions in CSKA (senior coach, head of the modern pentathlon team).
