- 1963 - 1967 - Baku Higher Combined Arms Command School named after the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan SSR .
- 1967 - 1971 - served in the Soviet Army as platoon commander.
- 1971 - 1973 - intelligence commander.
- 1973 - 1976 - Military Academy named after M. Frunze .
- 1976 - 1982 - Head of Intelligence of the Motorized Rifle Division of Yerevan.
