  • 1963 - 1967 - Baku Higher Combined Arms Command School named after the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan SSR .
  • 1967 - 1971 - served in the Soviet Army as platoon commander.
  • 1971 - 1973 - intelligence commander.
  • 1973 - 1976 - Military Academy named after M. Frunze .
  • 1976 - 1982 - Head of Intelligence of the Motorized Rifle Division of Yerevan.
  • 1982 - 1983 - chief of intelligence of the Kutaisi army corps, and in 1983 - 1986 - deputy chief of staff, chief of intelligence of the 7th Guards Army of the ZakVO.
  • 1986 - 1988 - Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR .
  • 1988 - 1992 - senior lecturer at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR.
