Prize in Fundamental Physics

The Prize in Fundamental Physics is an annual scientific prize, awarded for significant achievements in the field of fundamental physics . The prize is awarded in three categories: “Fundamental Physics”, “Advanced Physics Line” and “New Horizons of Physics”. Established in 2012 by Russian entrepreneur, co-owner of Mail.ru Group Yuri Milner .

The awards “Fundamental Physics” and “Advanced Physics Line” are awarded to well-known scientists for their discoveries (including theoretical), which are already recognized by the scientific community and physicists work in the fields related to these discoveries and theories, although these theories can still be far from experimental confirmation [1] . The prize "New Horizons of Physics" is awarded to promising young scientists. In some cases, a “special award” is awarded without a nomination procedure.

The prize in the category “Fundamental Physics” is $ 3,000,000, the prize in the “Advanced Physics Line” category - and “New Horizons of Physics” - $ 100,000. Winners of the “Advanced Physics Line” award become candidates for the main prize (if they do not receive in the current year, then they remain contenders for the next 5 years).
