SEAT SA ( used by Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo , “Spanish Tourism Car Association ”, in Russian pronounced “Ceat” [1] ) is a Spanish automotive company ; part of the Volkswagen Group . The headquarters is located in Barcelona (a suburb of Martorell ), Spain .

History

The history of Spanish cars began in 1919 : then the Italian company Fiat opened its branch in Spain, in the suburbs of Barcelona.

On November 13, 1953, the first SEAT vehicle came off the assembly line at the Martorell plant. Since 1972, Spanish riders have repeatedly appeared in national and European rally championships. In 1974, produced two millionth SEAT .

In 1980, Fiat refuses to increase its capital in SEAT and ceases 30-year cooperation with a Spanish company. On September 30, 1982 , a SEAT cooperation agreement was signed with the German concern Volkswagen AG , and on June 9, 1986, Volkswagen acquired a 51% stake in a Spanish company. In 1990, Volkswagen became the full owner of SEAT.

From the season 2009-2010. - The official sponsor of the UEFA Europa League .

In 2015, the company sold 400 thousand cars, in 2014 - 390.5 thousand, and in 2013 - 355 thousand. [2]

The number of personnel is 15 thousand people (2015) [3] . The company's revenue in 2015 amounted to € 8.3 billion (an increase of 11% compared with 2014), net profit - € 6 million (in 2014 net loss amounted to € 66 million) [4] .

From January 1, 2015, the company stopped supplying cars to Russia due to the difficult economic situation [5] .

Logo

  • In 1982–1999, the logo was the letter “S” in blue with three sharp teeth and at the bottom the inscription “SEAT” in blue.
  • In 1999–2012, the logo was “cut” into three parts, the letter “S” of gray on a red background, below the inscription “SEAT” of red and the font of the inscription was changed.
  • From 2012 to the present, the logo is the letter “S” in gray in the form of two blades and at the bottom the inscription “SEAT” is red in color with a slightly modified font.
