Kazuo Inamori ( 稲 盛 和 夫 Inamori Kazuo , born January 30, 1932 , Kagoshima , Kagoshima Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese philanthropist , entrepreneur and founder of Kyocera and KDDI corporations.

Kazuo Inamori was born in 1932 in Kagoshima. He graduated from Kagoshima University in 1955 and received honorary doctorates from several universities in the USA , Great Britain and Japan. In 1959, he founded the Kyocera Corporation, which became a well-known international company providing a wide range of products from electronic components to consumer products such as cell phones and cameras. In 1984, he founded DDI Corporation (currently called KDDI, the second largest telecommunications company in Japan). He founded in 1984, using his own funds. He also founded the Kyoto Prize , an international award honored by scholars and researchers who have made great contributions to the fields of advanced technology, basic sciences , art and philosophy . Kazuo Inamori is a member of several foreign civil and professional organizations, including the Royal Swedish Academy of Technical Sciences and the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Institution of Washington . He is the author of many books on business and success. He is currently Chairman of Japan Airlines .
