Parkhurst Prison ( Her Majesty's Prison Parkhurst ) is a prison on the Isle of Wight with a capacity of 536 prisoners. Together with the Albany and Camp Hill prisons, it makes up the HMP The Isle of Wight complex with a total capacity of 1,700 prisoners [1] .

Geography
Located in the village of Parkhurst, in the northwestern part of Newport , Isle of Wight . Near the prison - relict forest Parkhurst Forest [2] .
History
The prison was founded at the beginning of the XIX century on the site of a military hospital. On April 1, 2009, it was merged with the neighboring Albani and Camp Hill prisons.
Famous Prisoners
- Peter Sutcliffe is a serial killer nicknamed the Yorkshire Ripper. He was in prison from 1981 to 1984.
- Graham Frederick Young is a serial killer nicknamed the Broadmore Poisoner. He died in prison in 1990 [3] .
- Ian Brady - along with his partner committed a series of murders, which later became known as "Murders in the swamps . " He was a cellmate of Graham Frederick Young .
