Biography
Born in the city of Kashira (now the Moscow region ) in a working class family. He graduated from high school, then studied at a gymnasium, at the same time was engaged in a flying club. In 1939, Vybornov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1940, he graduated from the Chuguev Military Aviation Pilot School, and remained a pilot instructor in it. In June 1942 he was seconded to the army on the Kalinin Front as a senior pilot of the 728th Fighter Aviation Regiment. Participation in the fighting of the Great Patriotic War - from October 1942. Sergeant Vybornov made his first sorties on the I-16 with a follower at Arseny Vorozheykin . Since June 1943, Vybornov flew on the Yak-7B . He participated in the Battle of Kursk , the liberation of the Ukrainian SSR . He was shot down and wounded in the sky over Kiev , but managed to jump with a parachute. At the beginning of 1944, Vybornov graduated from the courses of deputy commanders for the air and rifle service. By the end of the war he flew on the Yak-9D , and also made several sorties on the Yak-3 . [1] As part of the 2nd Air Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front, he participated in the liberation of Poland, Czechoslovakia, and the battle for Berlin.
By April 1945, Senior Lieutenant Alexander Vybornov was in command of the squadron of the 728th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 256th Fighter Air Division of the 2nd Air Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . By that time, he had made 190 sorties, took part in 42 air battles, in which he shot down 20 aircraft [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945, Senior Lieutenant Alexander Vybornov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6572 [1] .
After submitting to the title of Hero, he continued to fight at the front, performed over 200 sorties by May 9, 1945, conducted more than 45 air battles, and personally shot down 21 enemy aircraft [2] . In the flight book of A. I. Vybornov, 28 personally shot down planes were recorded and this figure of victories in the air is indicated in many publications about him, but there is no confirmation of these data in the documents of the regiment [3] .
After the war, Vybornov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1954, he graduated from the Air Force Academy.
In 1956-1962 he was commander of the 26th IAD of the 22nd Air Army (headquarters in Petrozavodsk ). In 1962-1965 - the first commander of the 5th Air Defense Division (Petrozavodsk), 10th Separate Red Banner Air Defense Army ( Arkhangelsk ). [four]
In 1965, he was appointed chief of combat training for fighter aircraft of the USSR air defense. In 1967, during the Six Day War, it made 15 sorties, several times on the MiG-25 , carried out reconnaissance flights over Israel . In 1968, Vybornov was appointed to the inspection of the USSR Ministry of Defense . He mastered almost all Soviet fighters and fighter-bombers. In 1980, Vybornov resigned as lieutenant general . He lived in Moscow [1] .
Honored Military Pilot of the USSR ( 1966 ). He was awarded five orders of the Red Banner , the order of Alexander Nevsky , three orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Red Star , the order "For Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR" 3rd degree, two medals " For Military Merit ", and the medal " For the Defense of Moscow" ”,“ For the defense of Kiev ”,“ For the victory over Germany ”,“ For the liberation of Warsaw ”,“ For the capture of Berlin ”,“ For the liberation of Prague ”and others.
