Biography
After graduating from high school in 1990, he entered the Novosibirsk Higher Military Command School . After graduation, he was sent to Berdsk , where the 67th separate special-purpose brigade of the GRU GSH was located.
In December 1994, he went on a business trip to Chechnya as part of a brigade. In the battle on December 31, 1994, a group of Dmitry Erofeev was ambushed in the vicinity of the railway station in Grozny. Lieutenant Erofeev was injured in falling into an infantry fighting vehicle from a grenade launcher, but under enemy fire he carried out two wounded crew members from a burning infantry fighting vehicle to cover. Covering the withdrawal of the group, machine-gun fire destroyed two firing points of the enemy. He continued to fight, despite serious injuries, until he died.
For courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of October 13, 1995, Lieutenant Erofeev Dmitry Vladimirovich was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumous).
Memory
By order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, he was forever enlisted in the lists of the 1st company of the 691st separate special detachment of the GRU General Staff.
The name of Dmitry Erofeev is the municipal secondary school No. 1 in the village of Topchikha. Monuments to Dmitry Erofeev were erected at the memorial to the Heroes-graduates of the Novosibirsk Military Combined-Arms Command School and on the Heroes Alley of the village of Topchikha.
