“The Chorus of the Doors ” ( Italian. La Ridda dei Folletti , often fr. La ronde des lutins ), or the fantastic scherzo Op. 25 - a virtuoso composition for violin and piano by Antonio Bazzini , written in 1852. The approximate duration is 6 minutes. The play has been repeatedly published by leading world publishers; Shott’s edition was edited by August Wilhelmi , Schirmer’s edition was edited by Leopold Auer , who called Bazzini a “virtuoso in the true sense of the word” and noted that at one time every violinist knew him [1] . Scherzo remained the most well-known work of a fairly prolific composer: as Itzhak Perlman joked, Bazzini didn’t write anything else, because he used all the notes in “Dance of the Spirits” [2] .

Title
Italian Folletti means the spirits of the air - mythological creatures that have no direct analogues in many other national cultures. Therefore, when translating the name into other languages, there is a certain inconsistency: the often used French version of the name literally means “roundhouse dance”, in German “gnome dancing” ( it’s Tanz der Kobolde ) is commonly used, among the Russian versions of the name is “Rondo brownies” "Dance of the Witches", "Dance of the Dwarves", etc.
Work history
It is argued that Bazzini composed the play as a kind of response to the masterly work of his rival, Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst , called “Rondo Papageno” [3] .
Records
The miniature of Bazzini, in addition to Chloe Hanslip , who released the CD with his compositions, was recorded by such performers as Jan Kubelik , Jose Port , Yasha Kheifets , Yehudi Menuhin , Your Pryhgoda , Zino Francheskatti , Maxim Vengerov , Vadim Repin , Sarah Chang , and a lot others.
Arrangements
Revision for saxophone and piano ( Kenichiro Muto ) is popular with saxophonists. James Galway and Kazuhito Yamashita recorded arrangements for flute and guitar.
In culture
The music of the play is used in the Hell Is Other Robots series of the animated series Futurama.
