Khesin, Efim Samuilovich

Efim Samuilovich Khesin was born on April 22, 1931 in Moscow .

In 1956 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of International Relations of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs ^[1] and began work at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) of the USSR Academy of Sciences . In 1962 he received a Ph.D. in economics , and in 1979 he became a doctor of economics , defending a dissertation on the topic " England in the world economy."

In 1975 he became the head of the sector of Great Britain and the countries of Northern Europe IMEMO AN USSR, in 1992-1997. headed the Center for Research on European Integration and the Main Countries of Western Europe, IMEMO RAS , later transformed into the Center for European Studies IMEMO RAS , and since 1997, has been the main research fellow at this center ^[2] .

Since 1973, Yefim Khesin, in parallel with his work at IMEMO, has been giving lectures at various universities in Moscow . In 1981, he received the academic title of professor . In recent years, concurrently is a professor at the Department of World Economy at the National Research University Higher School of Economics ^[3] and at the Department of World Finance at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation ^[4] . Under his leadership, more than 30 master's theses were defended at IMEMO and a number of universities .

Yefim Khesin is a member of the IMEMO Academic Council , a member of dissertation councils at IMEMO and the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences , a member of the board of the Association for European Studies , a member of the editorial board of the journal "Modern Europe" , the annuals "Year of the Planet" and "World Development", as well as the fundamental collective monograph IMEMO " 2030 Strategic Global Forecast. ”
