Yadier Molina ( Spanish: Yadier Molina ; born July 13, 1982 in Bayamon , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican baseball player who plays for the St. Louis Cardinals main league baseball club. Plays as a catcher .

Career

The debut of Yadier Molina as part of the Cardinals took place on June 3, 2004 , in a duel against Pirates , when he replaced Mike Matheny as part of the current team manager. In the same year, the Cardinals lost in the Red Sox World Series, and Yadier entered the starting lineup for the last, fourth game.

Before the 2005 season , Mike Matheny signed a contract with the Giants , and the path to the base for the Core was clear.

Before the 2006 season , Molina changed the number, from the 41st to the 4th. His double home run in the ninth inning brought the Cardinals victory in the seventh game of the final series of the national league with the Metami and allowed him to get into the World Series.

On January 14, 2008, Yadier entered into a four-year contract with Cardinals for $ 15.5 million for a period of four years. After the 2008 season, Molina received the Golden Glove Award . In 2009, he was first selected to participate in the All-Star Game [1] , since then he has been participating in the show annually.

On April 5, 2010, Yadier knocked out his first grand slam in a duel against Milwaukee , becoming the third player in Cardinals history to succeed in the opening match. [2]

March 1, 2012, Yadier signed with St. Louis a five-year contract in the amount of $ 75 million [3] .

Family

He has two older brothers, Benji and Jose , also Major League Baseball catchers. All three became at different times the winners of the World Series. Yadier did this in 2006 and 2011, Benji in 2002, and Jose in 2002 and 2009.

Married. He has two children - a son, Yanwell (born in 2008) and a daughter, Arianna (born in 2010).

Lives in Vega Alta , a city in Puerto Rico. For the time of the season lives in Caseyville, Illinois .
