Linguistic twist

Linguistic turn - a phenomenon in the philosophy of the XX century , associated with the rethinking of the concept and role of language , as well as the eponymous anthology ( Eng. 'Linguistic turn: Recent Essays in Philosophical Method' ) edited by Richard Rorty , published in 1967 [1] .

The first stage of the linguistic turn took place in the 1920s and is associated with an attempt to reform the language or improve it by eliminating confusion in order to solve philosophical problems [1] [2] . The linguistic turn characterizes various directions of philosophical thought of the 20th century, among which are the ideas of the “Logico-philosophical treatise” by Wittgenstein , Husserl's phenomenology , Heidegger 's fundamental ontology , neopositivism [2] .

The second stage of the linguistic turn (1940s - 1950s) is characterized by the fact that language improvement projects are replaced by studies of various types of language; attention of such directions as hermeneutics , structuralism , linguistic philosophy , focuses on the contexts and premises of statements, on the structures of the language separately from communication with the subject [2] .
