From 1894 to 1902, the newspaper was published under the title “Special Addition to the Akmola Oblast Gazette”, from 1902 to 1905. was called "Agricultural leaflet". It was printed in the printing house of the Akmola Oblast Gazette (until 1904, additions in native languages were published on the basis of Arabic letters ).

Description
In the official part of the newspaper, decrees, resolutions and other documents of the tsarist administration and local authorities were published concerning the administration of the region. The newspaper also paid attention to the works of Russian scientists and writers on the history, ethnography and culture of local peoples. Samples of Kazakh oral folk art were printed: “Kambar-Batyr”, “ Kozy Korpesh-Bayan Sulu ”, “ Bozzhigit ”, “ Enlik-Kebek ”, legends and legends about Aldar-Kose , Zhirenshe-Sheshen ; translated works: stories about Khoja Nasreddin , fairy tales from the collection “ A Thousand and One Nights ”, the poem “ Leyli and Mejnun ” and others.
The Kyrgyz steppe newspaper was one of the first to propagandize among the local population the progressive views of the first Kazakh enlighteners-democrats A. Kunanbayev , Ch. Ch. Valikhanov , I. Altynsarin . Articles by M.Zh. Kopeyev , Shakarim , A.N. Bukeikhanov , A. Kurmanbayev , S. Chormanov , M. Zhanaydarov , K. Zhapanov, Z. Aimanov were published. Both the original fables of local authors and translated works by Ivan Andreevich Krylov were also printed; Asylhozhi Kurmanbayev and Ibray Altynsarin translated his fables “ Dragonfly and the Ant ”, “The Hermit and the Bear ”, “ Crow and the Fox ” into Kazakh. Various satirical and critical materials were placed in a special rubric “Mixture”, for example, in the stories “Vigorous volost” and “Glutin volost”, they mocked vanity and tyranny of bais and managers. Despite the small circulation, the newspaper was distributed almost throughout the territory of modern Kazakhstan. In the Central Scientific Library of Kazakhstan, in the department of rare books, photocopies of the newspaper are kept.

In 1989-1996, a collection of materials from the Kyrgyz Steppe newspaper was published in five books, compiled by U. Subkhanberdina on the basis of photocopies.
