Biography
Paul Dubrux was born in 1770 in Zhamouini , in the Duchy of Luxembourg in the family of a Breton officer. Following the example of his father, he entered the service in the Chasseurs Corps of the French King. During the French Revolution, he left home with his father and brother and joined the royalist corps, where he participated in hostilities in the counter-revolutionary army under the command of Prince de Conde . Since 1797, Paul lived in Poland . Experiencing financial difficulties, Paul was forced to earn their knowledge, working as a home teacher. Later he moved to Petersburg, from where in 1811 he moved to Kerch. In Kerch, Paul was first head of the Kerch customs. In 1812, during the plague, he was in Yenikale Commissioner for the medical unit. C 1817 he was appointed head of salt pans and lakes.
He was buried on top of Mount Mithridates in Kerch. (the grave was not preserved)
Contribution to archaeological science
From 1816, Paul Dubrux proceeded to the archaeological excavations with the permission of Tauride Governor A. M. Borozdin for a subsidy to A. F. Langeron in 100 rubles, in 1817 with state funds. Chancellor Count N. P. Rumyantsev (100 rubles), then at the expense of the imperial family.
The personal collection of Paul Dubers was the basis for the Kerch Museum of Antiquities, opened on June 2 (14), 1826, in his own house.
Works
Paul Dubrux wrote and created many works and notes on the archeology and geography of Cimmeria . The great discoverer of Mirmeki and Panticapaeum in his lifetime did not see any of his works published.
