Biography

Richard Sanderson was born in England into a family of Scottish and French musicians. His father was a drummer , and his mother played the accordion . He grew up in an atmosphere of love for music, and soon became a musician himself.

Richard Sanderson began playing classical piano music at the age of five. At the age of 15, he began to master the guitar , and two years later became an organist in the local rock band Lover's Love . The group released four singles , one of which is Youth Has Gone (Amour De Papier) , a song that he will later rewrite and name Find a Reason Why . Three years later, he becomes the official pianist of Nancy Holloway and David Christie. At the age of 21, he creates his own group and gives concerts in hotels around the world. Then he moved to the United States and performed with many groups and at the same time studied harmony and orchestration at the College of Music in Berkeley .

At 25, he returned to England and began working at the famous Trident Studios . Supported by Vogue Records, he is releasing his first solo single, Un Vent de Folie, under the pen name Richard Laurie. Then in 1979, No Stickers Please , his first music album, was released . In Trident Studio, he met with the famous composer Vladimir Cosma , after which Richard was approved for the main musical theme in the famous La Boum film with Sophie Marceau in the title role. In this film, he performs the songs Reality , Murky Turkey, and Go On Forever. These songs were recorded on the film's soundtrack album, along with other songs from this film, and also came out as singles .

The song " Reality " was the number one hit in 15 countries, including France , Germany , Italy and Switzerland . 8,000,000 copies were sold in Europe and Asia . In Germany, on DSDS, the German version of American Idol , many arrangements were made for this popular composition.

In 1982, at the Polygram studio, Sanderson recorded a new album, I'm in Love . Its German version differs from the French version in two tracks: “Not Made for Me” and “ Reality ”. The single “She's a Lady” from this album became number one in Italy and took fourth place in Europe and Asia, selling three million copies. Surprise was released in 1982 with songs from the movie “ Boom 2, ” sung by him Richard instead of Cook da Books and Freddy Mayer. Now this album is a rarity.

Fairy Tale was recorded in 1984 as the soundtrack for the film L'unique. In CD format, he was released three years later. In 1987, Richard Sanderson released the Reality album under the Carrere label and Songs for Lovers under the Blow Up label.

At age 35, he begins working on film music and becomes the official composer of Daniel Costello, director of many documentaries, such as La Victoire en Couleurs, who was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1995 for Best Foreign Film.

In 1990, he released his last music album , Anytime at All . When the Night Comes from this album took first place in the charts in Asia , and the single So Many Ways is in the top ten best songs in Radio Free Asia.

He was the producer of Barbara Hendricks and made several albums of Jewish music. The beauty of these Shabbat songs inspired him to record some of them in English with a modern orchestration. His album Legend: Visiting the Testament was released in 1999 .

In 2009, he made the Re-creation album, where he sings his favorite songs. In 2011, he released Sings the Classics ( Re-creation under the Sound and Vision sticker).
