Ahmet Necdet Sezer ( tour: Ahmet Necdet Sezer ; September 13, 1941 , Afyonkarahisar ) - the tenth president of Turkey . The Turkish Grand National Assembly elected Sezer as president in 2000 after seven years of his predecessor, Suleiman Demirel, expired. On August 28, 2007, he was succeeded by Abdullah Gul .

Biography
Ahmet Necdet Sezer was born on September 13, 1941 in Afyonkarahisar .
After leaving school in 1958 , he studied at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ankara and began his career as a judge in Ankara. After serving at the Military Academy, he worked first as a judge, and later as a supervising judge in the Supreme Court of Appeal in Ankara.
In March 1983 , he was elected a member of the Supreme Court of Appeal. Since Sezer was a member of the Upper House of Law, he became one of the three candidates for membership in the Constitutional Court recommended by the plenary assembly of the Supreme Court of Appeal. In January 1998, Ahmet Necdet Sezer was elected Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.
Married to Semra Sezer and has three children.
Ahmet Necdet Sezer was elected president in 2000 and took the oath of office on May 16, 2000 .
