Hagerup, Inger

Inger Hagerup was born in Bergen , Norway. Her father died when she was five years old. Some time later, the family moved to Nordfjord, and later to Wolda .

In 1931, the future poetess married the teacher, translator, and children's writer Anders Askevold Hagerup (1904-1979). They settled in Haugerud near Oslo . Their children (Klaus and Helge) subsequently became prominent Norwegian writers. The first poetry collection of the poetess “I got lost in the forest” was published in 1939. During the Nazi occupation of Norway, Hagerup, like her husband, took part in the resistance movement. At this time, her patriotic poems were distributed illegally. In 1943, she emigrated to Sweden to Stockholm . For many years she lived with her husband in Fredrikstad. In 1949, the poetess visited the USSR .

Along with poetry, Hagerup wrote stories, articles, and essays. Translated a lot, including translated into Norwegian W. Golding ’s novel “Lord of the Flies” ^[1] . Several collections of poems were dedicated to children. In 1961, for the collection of poems “Little Persil” she received the Prize of the Ministry of Culture of Norway “For children's and youth literature” .

The poetry of Inger Hagerup was translated into Russian by A. Akhmatova , N. Gribachev , E. Dolmatovsky, M. Petrov , A. Oislender , D. Samoilov , B. Slutsky , M. Shekhter, Yu. P. Vronsky and others.
