Story

In the late 1980s, the Uzbek district center was instructed to urgently erect the "Cemetery of the IV International ." A star-shaped cemetery will be buried nearby: Uzbeks , Kyrgyz , Russians , Kazakhs . The case of special importance is entrusted to the devoted comrade Boykenzhaev, a small and simple-minded man, a former orphanage boy who labored in the role of Lenin in parades. Having heard about the "special task", patients run away from intensive care, the dead come to life. Having not found a worthy Uzbek for burial, Boykenzhaev stops his own heart so as not to “let his comrades down”.

Rewards

  • Prize of the Guild of Film Critics and Film Critics of Russia (2003)

Critics' ratings

  • Evgeny Gusyatinsky (“The Art of Cinema ”): “One can envy the mind and talent of the Uzbek director, who shot the“ anti-Soviet ”cinema in the framework of the classic Soviet form ... The return to ruined forms undertaken by Razykov becomes an instrument of analysis and criticism of what is alive and whether it was preserved ” [1] .
  • Tatyana Moskvina: “The epic with the construction of a cemetery and the search for the deceased to open is a hilarious plot, allegorically embodying the fate of the communist mirage in Central Asia” [2] .
