Josep Acebillo Marin ( Spanish: Josep Acebillo Marin ; born April 16, 1946 , Huesca ) - Spanish architect , dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lugano , professor at the Barcelona Institute of Architecture, served as chief architect of Barcelona . In preparation for the 1992 Summer Olympics, he held the position of Technical Director of the Olympic holding “Barcelona 92”.

Biography
A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture of the Catalan Polytechnic University in 1974, received a diploma in art historian in 1975 [1] . From 1975 to 1981, he led a design workshop that worked independently or in collaboration with the architectural firm MBM . During this time, he won two awards for success in urban design and two in architecture.
From 1981 to 1987, he was director of the urban planning department of the municipality of Barcelona, a position that provides responsibility for the design and construction of public urban spaces (145 such projects were carried out under the guidance of Prof. Acebillo), infrastructure, monuments and public buildings proposed by the city council. For the highest quality of public urban spaces made under the direction of Prof. Acebillo, Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1990, awarded him the Prince of Wales Urban Design Award .
From 1988 to 1994, Asebillo is Technical Director of the Institute for Urban Development of Barcelona (Olympic Holding). Under his leadership, the design and construction of large urban infrastructures for the 1992 Olympic Games is carried out. For his contribution to the urban transformation of the city, he was awarded the honorary medal of Barcelona 1992.
From 1994 to 2011, he was the director of the Barcelona Regional Regional Agency for Strategic Development of the City Infrastructure (Barcelona Regional). His efforts earned him a special European Urban Award 1997/1998, awarded by the European Commission for the Project of Infrastructures and Servicing Systems of the City.
In 1998, he was appointed “Manager of Infrastructures and Urbanism” (Comisionado Infraestructuras y de urbanismo "in Barcelona. In 1999, he became the chief architect of the city of Barcelona. In the same year he was appointed honorary member of the Royal Institute of British Architects ( Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA ) .In addition, in 1999, RIBA awarded the Royal Gold Medal in Architecture . In 1999, Barcelona also received the Royal Golden Medal in RIBA Architecture for its contributions: Narsis Serra and Serra , Pascual Maragall and Peace , João Clos. and mate , Zhu EPA Asebilio and Oriol Boigas.
Under the town-planning leadership of Acebillo, Barcelona has received numerous awards for its primacy in the international architectural scene. After that, Jose Asebillo often received invitations to evaluate other cities, such as London , Ostend , Kazan , etc ... and to direct the efforts of their urban development transformation. In 2003, in the case of London, he was appointed a member of the International Design Committee ( London Development Agency ) to assess the development of the city.
In 2004, he was named Director of Architecture and Infrastructure of the Barcelona International Culture Forum in 2004 .
In 2009, he founded BsnSuS ( Barcelona Strategic Urban Systems ), a group whose director he is to this day, consisting of highly qualified technical companies in the public and private sectors of Barcelona, to participate in the development of international projects.
Jose Acebillo has always been involved in intensive teaching. First at the oldest University in Urbino, Italy ( International Architecture and Urban Design Laboratory - ILAUD ); then, as a visiting professor at numerous architecture departments around the world, including the Yale School of Architecture , the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore (NUS - National University of Singapore).
Since 2001, Acebillo has been the head of the Department of Territory Culture at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, where he served as dean from 2003 to 2007. In 2004, he founded the Institute of Contemporary Urban Project ( i.CUP ) at the Academy, which conducts research in the field of contemporary urban design.
Acebillo continues to teach at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio and is currently a member of the Board of Directors and Professors of the Institute of Architecture of Barcelona (BIARh).
Since 2007, he has been opening the architectural studio Office of Architectural Systems in Switzerland in collaboration with architect Stanislava Boszkowicz Sigon.

Awarded by the French Institute of Architecture (IFA), the Architectural Foundation of London, the Netherlands Architectural Institute (NAI) , Vienna Architecture Center (AZW) and the Centorm of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB).
2005 First prize for Public space, thematic area and development of the waterfront zone of Zaragoza for the International Expo 2008.
2007 Energy Prize of the International Culture Forum 2004 in Barcelona.
