Ballester-Molina ( Spanish: Ballester-Molina [3] ) - self-loading pistol chambered for .45 ACP , until 1940 bore the designation Ballester-Rigaud . It was developed on the basis of the American Colt M1911 [2] by the French engineer Rorice Rigaud . It was produced by the engineering and weapons department of HAFDASA ( H ispano Argentina Fábrica d e A utomotores S ociedad A nonima) [2] by the Argentinean company Hispano-Argentina called Ballester-Rigaud. The gun was in the arsenal of the armed forces of Argentina , Britain and other countries until the beginning of the 80s . The designation of the pistol comes from the names of the founders of the company Arturo Ballester ( Spanish. Arturo Ballester ) and Eugenio Molina ( Spanish. Eugenio Molina ).

During the war, pistols were delivered to the UK , where they were used quite successfully by commando units [1] . It was actively used by the police units of Argentina until the 80s of the XX century [1] .
