Story
2 years ago, the older brother of Ayumu Narumi - Kiyotaka, the famous detective and pianist disappeared without a trace. The only clue is the key phrase - "children of the blade", which Kiyotaka conveyed in his last telephone message. Now (after 2 years) Ayumu lives with his wife and is a student of the Tsukiomi Academy high school. However, he was suddenly accused of attempted murder of one of the schoolgirls. Ayumu soon learns that the girl is somehow connected with the children of the blade. And he, along with a school journalist named Hiyono Yuizaki, are trying to solve the mystery of who the children of the blade are.
Blade children, also known as cursed children, have been a major mystery for most of history. They differ from people with special eyes that look like cats and the absence of one rib in the chest. Ayumu later discovers that Kyosuke Asazuki, Ryouko Takamati, Canon Gilbert are children of the blade. Ayumu should act as their protector.
The anime series begins the story with the sixth chapter of the manga and the plot compares the children’s blades with cuckoo chicks, which they put in “people's nests” so that they grow up and go crazy by the end of their lives.
About thirty years ago, a man was born named Ayba Mizushiro, who did not have a rib in his right chest. When Kiyotaka succeeded in everything, at 23 he entered a secret society that was supposed to govern the world community, the society grew rapidly and gained strength. Aiba initiated the Children of the Blades project and created his own clones in the laboratory, removing one rib from everyone as a sign of communication with Aiba. These children were supposed to be geniuses and grow up with their own rights, but one day they must go crazy and become Aba's deadly avatars. However, Ayba’s organization was divided into 3 parts, which developed different plans for blade children:
- Keepers Believe that you need to create more kids blades. After Ayba's death, their plans became uncertain.
- Observers believe that it is enough to observe the created children and keep reports.
- Hunters Believe that the children of the blades are potentially dangerous and must be destroyed, including Aybu.
Aibu killed Kiyotaka, as the first dreamed of transforming the world and creating a new race based on the design of the children of the blade. After Ayba's death, the project was suspended. Kiyotaka also tried to stop the “Hunters” who intended to kill the children of the blade. Just as Kiyotaka and Aiba were connected, Ayumu met his other half - Hizumi Mitsichiro, Aiba's younger brother and the one who would awaken the blood of the remaining children of the blade. Ayumi is friends with Hizushi and decides to protect the children of the blades.
Spiral: Alive
The action takes place around Imari Sekiguchi, who fell in love with Ciro Savamura, a boy who is about to become a detective. But before Imari decides to confess his love, Shiro suddenly drops out of school. Imari learns that Shiro is dating a pretty girl named Yukine Amanae. But no one knows that she is really a killer. Meanwhile, policeman Tori Saiki is investigating blowing mysterious murders linked to Amanae. Later, Imari, Shiro and Saiki take part in events that are related to the children of the blade.
