Biography

Born in 1762 (according to other sources in 1748 ).

In 1780-1801 she played in the troupe of the Petrovsky Theater in Moscow (Theater of Meddox ).

She was considered the first tragic actress of the Petrovsky Theater and one of the outstanding tragic actresses of her time. Contemporaries called it "incomparable." According to legend, the actor Ya. E. Shusherin , who was with her at the exits, passionately in love with the actress, made a career only to become her partner on the stage (Shusherin played mainly the roles of the actress's lovers). After his departure, the roles of “first lovers” were mostly played by Ivan Lapin.

Dido was considered the best role of the actress in the tragedy of the same name by J. Knyazhnin , as well as Emilia Galotti (Emilia Galotti by G. Lessing ).

In 1801, Sinyavskaya moved with her husband, actor N. D. Sakharov, to the Petersburg scene and played tragedies until 1807 (Elfrida in the play of the same name by F. Yu. Bertrukh, Jimena in “Side” by J. Rasin , Eilalia in “Eilalia and Maynau »Ziegler), then switched to the role of noble mothers.

She left the scene in the season of 1810-1811.

Even in the Moscow period, Maria Sinyavskaya was engaged in pedagogical activity, was the teacher of the female troupe of N.P. Sheremetev and the director of some performances of his serf theater. She studied with P.I. Zhemchugova . [one]

The sisters of Maria Sinyavskaya - Ulyana (younger) and Alexandra (senior) - were also actresses and played in the Petrovsky Theater.

She died in 1829 (according to other sources in 1827 ).
