Alkatvaam is a river in Russia , flows through the territory of the Anadyr region of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug [2] .

The Chukchi name YΔ±kΔ±tveem literally means "hard snow" ( Chuk. SΚΌΤ - from yΚΌΤyyΤ "snow" + -kyt "hard" + -weem / -waam "river") [3] .
In winter, large frosts appear on the river and, in some places, voids [4] .
A sockeye salmon comes to spawn in Alkatvaam [5] .
