Vladimir Ulyanovich Voronov ( 1914 - 1995 ) - Colonel of the Soviet Army , participant in the Polish campaign of the Red Army , the Soviet-Finnish and World War II , Hero of the Soviet Union ( 1945 ).

Biography
Vladimir Voronok was born on July 11, 1914 in the village of Podlipnoe (now Konotop district of Sumy region of Ukraine ) in a working family. He graduated from eight classes and the school of factory apprenticeship at the Konotop Car Repair Plant , after which he worked at it as a locksmith. In 1935 he graduated from the railway college.
In 1936 - 1940 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1938 he graduated from junior lieutenant courses. He participated in the Polish campaign and the Soviet-Finnish war .
In June 1941, he was again drafted into the army and sent to the front of the Great Patriotic War . He took part in the battle for the Caucasus , the liberation of the Kuban, Ukraine, Crimea. By May 1944, Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Voronov commanded the 665th Rifle Regiment of the 216th Rifle Division of the 51st Army of the 4th Ukrainian Front . Distinguished himself during the Crimean operation [1] .
On May 8, 1944, organizing assault detachments, Voronov attacked the enemy and, having mastered his reinforced concrete fortifications, went to the internal defensive line of Sevastopol . On May 9, the regiment broke through to the city center [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945 for “courage and bravery shown during the crossing of Sivash and in the battles for holding the Sivash bridgehead, for the successful actions of the regiment to take possession of Sevastopol”, Colonel Vladimir Voronov was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the order Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6181 [1] .
Participated in the Victory Parade and government reception in the Kremlin in honor of the Victory. After the war he continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1946, he graduated from the Shot courses , and in 1958, the Higher Academic Courses at the General Staff Military Academy . In 1961, the rank of colonel was sacked. He lived in the city of Khimki, Moscow Region , worked as a leading engineer of the Ministry of Road Transport of the RSFSR. He died on October 8, 1995, was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery [1] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Red Banner , orders of Suvorov of the 3rd degree, Kutuzov of the 3rd degree, Alexander Nevsky , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Red Star , as well as a number of medals [1] .
