QI

After the album was released, many fans wanted the song “QI” to be released as a single, viewing it as a potential hit ^[1] . The song was performed for the first time on NRJ on May 13 in a short version, without a second verse. The first remix was recorded on June 15 by Chris Cox in order to gain public acclaim on NRJ Radio ^[2] . The song sounded on the radio and was followed by two long remixes by Chris Cox, who also remixed another hit, “ Désenchantée ” in 2003 on RemixeS , then “ Peut-être toi ”, intended for the dance floor. Two other remixes were prepared and broadcast: a techno remix with a slow rhythm, “CQFD R.club” from Syd, who already remixed on “ Libertine ” and “ Fuck Them All ” in 2003 and 2005, respectively, and electronic and slow remix “ rodin's extended club mix ”was made by Liquid Twins, who also took part in the remix of the song“ L'Amour n'est rien ... ” ^[3] . The single was released in three formats - CD single, CD maxi, 7 "maxi - on June 4, two months after its first broadcast on the radio. There was a mistake when printing on vinyl maxi records: part of the remix was engraved on both sides along with other songs Mylene Farmer ^[4] .

“QI” touches on a sexual theme, pretending to be actually about intelligence (IQ). In the texts, Milen says that she seduced IQ of her lover - “QI” in French - and this acronym becomes the occasion for many dubious puns, puns ^[5] , some of which are similar to those in the song “Con c'est con ces conséquences ”, written by Serge Gainsbourg for Jane Birkin. Chorus "calls for affection and sex" ^[6] . The lyrics mix sex and intelligence, saying that women like “physical” love. As a result, the French newspaper Ouest-France considers QI a “defiantly erotic” song ^[7] . French author Erwan Jubert stated that "The lyrics are delightful, vicious, and the melody is like a tonic or training at the Véronique and Davina gym" ^[8] According to French writer Julien Rigal, Farmer is amazing in the lyrics as if it was the first time that she awakens sexuality so boldly, using familiar words such as “culs” and “cons”;., he said that the song “is not an ode to sexuality, but intellectual pleasure” ^{[1 ]} .

The video was shot in Budapest , Hungary by Benoît Lestang, a specialist who worked on Giorgino in 1993, and has been screenwriter in several French films such as La Cité des enfants perdus , Le Hussard sur le toit , Le Pacte des loups , and Arsene Lupine . He also created the doll shown in the video clip “ Sans contrefaçon ” ^[9] . A very simple script was written by Milen Farmer. Rafael Amargo used the pseudonym Jesus Rafael Garcia Hernandez, a Spanish dancer and choreographer born in 1975, who appears in the video ^{[9] [10]} .

The video begins with the screening of Milen Farmer, depicted on a giant screen, which is fixed on a constructed building, in the city it is raining. At the same time, a man in his apartment looks at the screen and touches it through a wet window. Then Milen, smiling in his apartment, wears fishnet stockings and stilettos, and sits on a leather armchair. She looks at the man who is reading a book near her. With her heels, she begins to take off the shirt from the man and exposes his torso. Behind the blue panel, where their shadows are visible, they begin to dance. Then, sitting on the bed in the library, Farmer hugs the man and has sex with him. She runs her hands along his back and hides them under her skin. The shadows of the dancers intersect to the very end of the video clip. At the end of the song, the screen goes blank. Then come the credits, where Milen thanks Benoît di Sabato, his companion ^[11] .

The premiere on television took place on June 29, 2005 ^[2] . Journalist Caroline Bee believes that “in this video you can see the influence of David Cronenberg in the work of Benoit Lestan” and believes that the production resembles “ Libertine ” during the 1996 tour, when Farmer sang while sitting in a chair ^[12] . Nevertheless, the video was considered disappointing for many fans of the singer and in general he received negative reviews, accusing him of excessive simplicity ^[13] . Erwan Chuberre said: “There is nothing here ... that will give the audience an opportunity to get bored” ^[8] . Psychologist Hugh Royer said that the singer in this video is too “smooth”, noting that her “hair is neatly twisted and styled” and her “complex makeup”, which was supposed to “suffer in the video,” that is, shows a couple in their everyday life ^[14] .

The song was never performed on television; however, in July 2005, the single was shown on television with three 15 - 30 second commercials showing excerpts from the clip, although one of the videos was censored ^[15] . According to a description of a concert in Bercy on her website in 2006, Farmer took off her big black hat when she sang on the QI stage and performed a new dance with a dance. She asked the audience to raise their hands in the air and sing with her the last backing vocals ^[16] .
