Sima Qian wrote about the time of Zhao-wang’s reign, that under him “weaknesses and flaws appeared in the government. The reign of Zhao-wan is marked by constant rebellion and war in the southern regions of the empire. Sources mention at least 5 military campaigns during the reign of Zhao-wang, all of them were sent to the south. The main enemy here is the kingdom of Chu . According to the Bamboo Books , in the 16th year of his reign, Zhao-wang attacked Chu-Jing, crossed the Han River , and met a giant rhino. In the 19th year of the reign, Zhao-wang lost all his 6 armies on the Han River . Finally, in the last year of his reign, Zhao-wan set off on a campaign south against the southern barbarians - and did not return. Obviously, he died in the war with the forces of Chu .
Thanks to the military operations of Zhao-wan, peace and security of the border regions reigned in China for many years.
