Karlidia peterseni (lat.) - a species of German wasps from the subfamily Mutillinae , the only one in the genus Karlidia Lelej , 1999 . Endemic to Thailand . Length 6–9 mm. Head and abdomen are black, chest, mandibles , legs and antennae are red-brown; abdominal sternites are brown; antennae flagellomeres black on top. The eyes are located at the base of the mandibles. Spurs are reddish brown. The new genus, thanks to such a feature as a wide first segment of the abdomen, resembles the female Germans of the genera Brachymutilla ( Dasylabrinae ), Yamanetilla Lelej, 1996 and Odontomutilla Ashmead, 1899 (Odontomutillini, Ephutinae ). The genus and species were described in 1999 by the Russian hymenopterologist Arkady Stepanovich Lelei and named after two wasp specialists: the American entomologist Karl V. Krombein (who has found more than 1000 species new for science) and the Danish expert mutilide B. Petersen ( Borge Petersen , the first to point out this new species), who died on January 18, 1996 [1] . In 2017, they were included in the subfamily Mutillinae [2] .
