Biography

Born in the village of Big Salt (now - Nekrasovskoye, Yaroslavl region). He graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University (1938), Ph.D. n (1946), d.t. n (1965), professor (1966).

From 1937 to 1981 he worked at VIAM : technician (1937), engineer (1938), Art. engineer (1941), head of laboratory (1953). During this time, he made a great contribution to the development of the fundamental science of metal corrosion.

Scientific activity

Together with G.V. Akimov, he discovered the phenomenon of passivation of metals and alloys, the phenomenon of cathodic passivity, developed new ideas in the field of structural corrosion of metals, for the first time in the world, created a whole class of original two-phase austenitic-ferritic stainless steels, developed new martensitic stainless steels, new corrosion resistant alloys and solders. During the years of World War II, he developed a new technology for producing high-quality chrome, replacing severely deficient cobalt for surfacing valves of military aircraft. With his active participation, the problem of the production of nichrome for new powerful aircraft engines was solved.

Published over 200 scientific papers, author of 50 inventions.
