European Darts Championship is a PDC- sponsored tournament. The tournament is hosted by the best European players as well as the leaders of the PDC Order of Merit. Now the tournament is held in Mülheim an der Ruhr , previously held in Dusseldorf , Frankfurt , Dinslaken and Hoofddorp .
The winner of the first four tournaments was Englishman Phil Taylor . In 2012, the title was won by Australian Simon Whitlock .

Broadcasts
In 2008, the tournament was broadcast by the English company ITV4. This was the second broadcast of the darts after the Darts Grand Slam.
In 2009, the tournament was not broadcast, and in 2010 the English company Bravo broadcast. It was the first darts broadcast in the history of the channel. [2] On June 26, 2011, ITV4 decided to broadcast the 2011 tournament. [3] RTL1 and Sport1 broadcast the tournament in Germany. On August 8, 2012, it was decided that the tournament this year would broadcast ESPN .

All four tournaments were sponsored by PartyPoker.net, which also sponsors the Las Vegas Desert Classic and US Open (they are not currently broadcast on TV).
