Biography
Ismail Abdulkhalikovich Balugov was born in 1908 in the city of Zakataly , Zakatala district (according to the passport on January 1, 1910, in the village of Kumukh ).
He worked at the Laky Drama Theater named after Effendi Kapiev since its foundation in 1935: actor of the 1st category (1935-1939), chief director and director of the theater (1943-1950). In 1935 he wrote the play “Kazbek”, which embodied the ideas of the liberation struggle of the poor against khanish arbitrariness and showed the first shoots of the revolutionary movement. In 1939, he graduated from the 9-month director’s courses in Moscow. In 1940 he joined the Communist Party . In 1952 he graduated from the 6-month director's courses.
During his work at the Laksky Theater, he staged more than 40 new performances: “The Servant of Two Masters” - Carlo Goldoni, “The Scoundrels” - Jean Baptiste Moliere, “Cunning and Love” - Friedrich Schiller, “Our People - Let's Count” - Alexander Ostrovsky, “ Marriage ”- Nikolai Gogol. All these productions were a great success and received good praise from the audience and the press.
In 1973, after working for 38 years, he went on a well-deserved rest.
He died on April 1, 1991.
Family
Great-grandfather - Jagan-bek Balugov, was a descendant of Sultanahmad, who because of enmity with the local ruler in 1712 moved with his family from Kumukh to Ganja. The father of Sultanahmad was khakhlavchi Muhammad-shamkhal, the son of Rustamkhan (Mamma-shamkhal,? - 1676), mentioned by the 18th-century German traveler Jacob Reineggs: “they chose Targu for their summer stay, and in Kumuk they left one of their relatives as ruler; but it happened once that a certain Mohammed, remaining the mayor, seized this city and, in addition, a considerable part of the province with an armed arm and forced him to stay in Targu, where the shamgal still has its permanent home. ” In 1837, in the Caucasus, Jagan-bek Balugov accompanied the emperor Nicholas I from Karavan Saray to the Red Bridge in an honorary convoy and was awarded the Caucasus 1837 medal [1] .
Grandfather - Beglyar-bek Balugov, served in the Elizavetpol city police as a custodian of a prison castle and in 1882 he was promoted to outland councilor upon resignation [2] [3] .
Father - Abdul-Khalik-bey, died a month before the birth of his son.
Mother - Muminat Bike, died a few years after the birth of her son. Remaining without parents, an orphan was raised by relatives from Kumukh.
