Yakhont

Yakhont is one of the outdated names of red and blue jewelry minerals of corundum . Accordingly, the ruby was called the red yacht (or lal ), and the sapphire was called “azure yacht ” or blue [1] . In addition, amethyst is sometimes called a cherry yacht, and hyacinth is yellow [2] .

Cultural Influence

Since the XIX century, the term has been used mainly in fiction [1] . There are persistent expressions, such as “yachting mine”, in relation to a precious thing or loved one .
