Biography
He was born on September 17, 1925 in the village of Kuplyyam, Yegoryevsky District, Moscow Region, in a peasant family. Russian

In the Red Army from January 5, 1943, he was sent to one of the reserve training regiments of the Moscow Military District . Here, until the summer of 1943, he underwent initial training, mastered the military specialty of a machine gunner. At the front of World War II - from August 30, 1943. He fought as a shooter, commander of a rifle platoon and company on the South-West, 3rd Ukrainian and 1st Belorussian fronts. In 1944 he graduated from junior lieutenant courses. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1944. In battles twice wounded.
The platoon commander of the 226th Guards Rifle Regiment, Lieutenant Ivan Galtsev, on February 28, 1945, in battles to expand the bridgehead on the Oder River in the area south of the town of Küstryn (now Kostrzyn, Poland ), replacing the retired company commander, took control of the enemy stronghold and retained the dominant position over the area height.
