Early years

Skhenkeveld was born on August 28, 1991 in the Dutch village of Den Horn, which is located between the cities of The Hague and Rotterdam [3] .

Club career

At the age of five, Skhenkeveld joined the local Den Horn amateur club. After playing there one season, Bart entered the Feyenoord Football Academy, in which he initially began training as a right winger, but was soon transferred to defense. The football player successfully completed training, but at the age of 15 he was injured (partial rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee), which stopped his career for five months. Schenkeveld decided to return earlier, which only worsened his health. In total, Bart had to recover for almost two years.

His return took place on November 29, 2008 in a youth match among young men under 19 against the Sparta club. The trainer of the Feyenoord youth team, Jean-Paul van Gastel, was impressed by the return of Schenkeveld. Exactly one year after his return, on November 19, 2009, the defender made his debut for the Feyenoord in the Dutch Championship in an away match with ADO Den Haag [4] .

On December 23, 2011 Feyenoord signed a deal with Excelsior club, and in the 2011/12 season, the footballer played for the team on loan. In August 2012, it was announced that Bart would continue his career with Heracles . [5]

On August 3, 2015, Schenkeveld joined Zwoll as a free agent, signing a contract with the club for three years [6] . He made his debut in the team on August 12, coming on as a substitute in the match with Cambury .

In August 2017, he moved to the Australian club Melbourne City , with which he signed a contract for two years [7] [8] .

Netherlands national team

Skhenkeveld is also known on the world football scene: in 2005 he was captain of the Netherlands national team under 15 years old, who defeated the Irish national team 3-1 in a friendly match [9] . The young football player continued his international career in the Dutch national team until the age of 16 [10] , but he missed the championships for young men under 17 and under 18 due to serious injuries. After his recovery, the defender rejoined the Netherlands national team until 19, which in 2010 beat Germany 3-0 [11] .
