Gerasim Luke or Gerasim Luka ( rum. Gherasim Luca , fr. Ghérasim Luca , actually Zalman Loker , July 23, 1913 , Bucharest - February 9, 1994 , Paris ) - Romanian and then French poet and artist close to surrealism .

Content

Biography

From the family of Ashkenazi Jews , the son of a tailor. He was a member of the group of Romanian surrealists ( Tristan Tzara , Benjamin Fondan , Constantin Brunkushi , Victor Brauner , Zhelyu Naum, etc.). From 1952 he lived (without documents, calling himself stateless ) in Paris, in Montmartre . He spoke Yiddish , Romanian, German, French, switched to French. Collaborated with the Surrealists, but never entered the group. He was friends with Celan . His closest friend and co-author was a painter and sculptor, also a native of Romania, Jacques Herold , and his girlfriend, artist Micheline Catti, who participated in his performances shown in France, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, and the USA. He influenced many young poets, among whom was Olivier Cadio . His experimental poems, close to sound art , were highly appreciated by Gilles Deleuze . Books Luke translated into English and Spanish.

In 1994 he was officially evicted from the apartment "for reasons of hygiene." He killed himself by throwing himself into the Seine .
