Euploea is a genus of butterflies from the nymphalidae family and the Danaida subfamily . Species of this genus are widespread in India , Malaysia , Indonesia , Japan and southern China . The typical color of the butterflies is dark blue, dark brown or black. Caterpillars opposite are painted in bright colors. All butterflies and caterpillars are poisonous due to the nutrition of plants of the genus Vatochnik .
