History

Old overpass at the beginning of the 20th century

The first overpass was built on this site at the beginning of the 20th century, simultaneously with the construction of the District Railway. Then the road passed from the village of Vsekhsvyatsky to the village of Khoroshev [2] and to the military camps.

According to the master plan of 1951, the route of the 5th ring of Moscow was supposed to pass here [3] . In 1962, a new one was built on the site of the old overpass, designed by the engineer Z. V. Freidin, architects Yu. I. Goltsev and K. P. Savelyev [1] [4] . The overpass got its name from the area of Sandy streets [4] , which in turn were named according to the nature of the soil.

The route of the Northwest Chord passed along the Sandy Overpass [5] . For this reason, in 2015–2016, the retaining wall of the eastern approach of the overpass was reconstructed [6] . As a result, the number of lanes for traffic under the overpass from the Sorge and Panfilov streets was increased from two to three.

In 2016, the Panfilovskaya MCC platform was opened next to the overpass. It was originally planned that the platform would be connected by stairs with the Sandy overpass [7] , but later it was decided to make a separate pedestrian bridge for it parallel to the overpass.

Description

The overpass has three lanes for movement in each direction. Type of bridge construction - reinforced concrete, girder, four-span.

Transport

The overpass passes routes of buses No. 26, 100, 105, 691 and trolleybuses No. 19, 59.
