The Needles ( The Needles ) are chalk cliffs off the west coast of the Isle of Wight .

Geography
Located in the western part of Alum Bay, The Solent Strait, near the westernmost point of the Isle of Wight.
Transport
The cliffs can be reached by the Southern Vectis regular bus line No. 7 ( Newport - Yarmouth - Alum Bay) [1] and the Island Coster ( Ryde - Freshwater - Alum Bay - Yarmouth ) and Needles Tour ( Yarmouth - Needles - Yarmouth ) [2] .
Artillery Battery
The Needles Battery artillery battery was built in the early 1860s in the immediate vicinity of the cliffs to protect the western part of The Solent Strait from enemy ships. It was used in the 1950s to test the engines of the Black Knight booster. The battery is currently open for viewing [3] .
Culture
In the 2005 television show Seven Natural Wonders, the cliffs were featured as one of the "wonders of nature" in the south of England.
Near the cliffs and along the entire coast of the Isle of Wight is the Isle of Wight Coastal Path [4] .
