History
The history of Efes began in 1969 , when two Turkish breweries, united in the Efes Beverage Group, began to produce beer with the same name. The trademark and manufacturing company got its name from the ancient Greek city , the remains of which were found not far from the modern Turkish city of Izmir , which houses one of the breweries.
The company was developing rapidly, the number of breweries in Turkey was brought to five. The beer production volume of the company, the lion's share of which is products of the Efes trademark , increased from 3 to 85 million decalitres during 1969 - 2009 .
In the second half of the 1990s, a Turkish company began to actively develop its foreign business, building new ones and buying existing breweries in other countries. Along with the development of local brands, most of these foreign markets are actively promoting the Efes brand, the beer of which is now produced by the company's enterprises in Russia, Kazakhstan and Georgia.
