Cortal, Pierre-Yves

Pierre-Yves began his sports career in karting: in the first half of the 1990s, he participated in various national competitions for several years. In 1996, he transferred to his first motorsport series - the national monocup on Renault Clio cars. Here, the young Belgian comparatively quickly begins to show results at the level of the leaders of the series and already in the first year chalks up three victories.

Over the next few years, Kortal combines performances in the picture and in one of the body monocups in Benelux. In 1997, he made his debut in the Belgian championship Procar, where in the next few years he holds a lot of strong races, which allows him to twice get into the top five strongest drivers in the personal classification according to the results of the season. In 2000-01, Pierre-Yves performed in one of the Renault monocups, and also tried his hand at French touring.

In 2003, starts in more prestigious series were added to periodic performances in various body monocups - Kortal participates in the European Touring Championship , and also starts in 2003-04 at 24 hours at the FIA GT Spa .

In 2006-08, the Belgian performs for almost three full seasons in the World Touring Championship . The low competitiveness of the team does not allow him to regularly fight for points in races in the overall standings, but in the trophy of private traders he is one of the fastest and regularly wins.

In 2009-10, performances are gradually becoming increasingly rare and at the end of the 2010 season, Pierre-Yves interrupts his racing career.

In addition to the starts in the circuit races, in the late 1990s Kortal tried himself in the rally , starting in various small European competitions.
