The 1966 European Figure Skating Championships were held from February 1 to 6 in Bratislava ( Czechoslovakia ). The championship was held in the categories of men's single skating , women's single figure skating , pair skating and in sports dancing on ice . For the first time, a record number of athletes 111 figure skaters took part in the competition. The men of Austria won Emmerich Danzer , the women won the representative of Austria Regina Heitzer , the USSR representatives Lyudmila Belousova and Oleg Protopopov won the couples, the representatives of Great Britain Diana Tauler and Bernard Ford became the champions of Europe.
